Nurses Week Spotlight - Nurse Jacob at Shelby County, AL

Nurse Jacob is committed to providing quality care to his patients. His experience working for a year in each an Emergency Room Department and an ICU float pool has given him a diverse skillset, which he is able to apply to his work in corrections for the last two years. He has certifications in TNCC, BLS, ACLS and PALS and is currently furthering his education in a Nurse Anesthetist Program.

"Working in corrections has allowed me to develop great assessment skills. There comes a lot of autonomy and responsibility while caring for underserved inmates. I love the variety, from Chronic Care to Emergency Response, which requires me to always be on my game. Knowing I can provide inmates with quality care during their incarceration brings me joy."

Brandy, MTA at Shelby stated "Jacob is one of the most joyful personalities and hardest workers. On the hardest busiest days, if Jacob is on site with you, YOU WILL LAUGH!"

Jacob’s plan after graduation is to provide anesthesia during cosmetic and obstetrics procedures.

Thank you Jacob for sharing your story with us during Nurses Week and for being a dedicated part of the team at Shelby AL!
